Since we gave out the first Streaming Media Readers' Choice Awards in 2007 at Streaming Media West in San Jose, a lot has changed.
Nobody was using the term "OTT," and if you talked about the cloud, most people assumed you were speaking to the weather.
Only five of the 16 categories from our first awards, which received votes from slightly over 3,000 readers for 120 goods and services, are still up for voting today (can you guess which ones they are?).
There are more than 200 nominees in 22 categories, including analytics, cloud encoding, SSAI, and video quality measurements, from which you may choose when you cast your vote in this year's Readers' Choice Awards, which you can do starting today.
We've established a new category this year called Cloud Video Production Platform in recognition of the enormous rise of cloud production processes.
We asked for nominations from our readers to create the list of contenders, which we then scrutinised to make sure the proper products were in the appropriate categories.
Voting is open to everyone, but there is one restriction: Employees of nominated businesses cannot vote for their own goods and services.
Because the process isn't flawless, if you notice a product that should be in any given category but isn't, send us an email at email@example.com, and we'll consider adding it.
