Other hardware improvements common to both variants of the Tablet Pro include the USB 4 Thunderbolt port, which allows for faster data transfer and supports external displays with up to 6K resolution.
The iPad Pro mobile models are now 5G-capable and reportedly achieve download speeds of 3.5 Gbps, while the mmWave versions reach 4 Gbps in the US.
While the rear camera system remains the same as the previous generation, users will notice improvements on the computer side with the introduction of Smart HDR 3.
While the True Depth front camera now includes a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera that enables a new feature called Center Stage.
The middle level uses a wide field of view to capture more information and adapt the frame to human movements; it is not known whether this wide camera improves facial recognition.
How does the 12.9-inch version differ from the 11-inch version?
Aside from the size, the only difference between the 11-inch iPad Pro and the 12.9-inch iPad Pro is the display technology used in the larger tablet.
The 12.9-inch iPad Pro introduces the much-discussed mini-LED panel. Apple calls this new screen the Liquid Retina XDR.
Aspects such as the one million times contrast ratio and local dimming zones are carried over from the Apple Pro Display XDR, hence the name. The panel now achieves brightness levels of up to 1000 nits for full screen content and 1600 nits at maximum brightness.
In Apple’s technical specifications, the typical brightness is still 600 nits, so users will only notice higher brightness levels in certain use cases, for example. For example, when viewing HDR certified content.
Prices for the new models start at $799 for the 11-inch iPad Pro, while the 12.9-inch iPad Pro will start at $1,099. In terms of storage, the devices start with a 128GB base, but they can be expanded up to 2TB.
Other than that, no new iPad accessories were announced, except for the white Magic Keyboard.
The tablets can be purchased from April 30 and will be available in the second half of May.

Apple’s move to silicon was announced in June 2020 and is expected to take place over the next two years. It started with the M1 chip in the MacBook Air, the 13-inch MacBook Pro, and the Mac Mini.
The process continued with the unveiling of the updated iMac. It now has a 24-inch screen, seven different colors and will start at $1,299.
The new all-in-one monitor features a 4.5K (4480 x 2520) display with TrueTone technology and can connect to an external monitor with up to 6K resolution via Thunderbolt ports.
The M1-based iMac comes in two versions: one with two USB 4 Thunderbolt ports and one with two USB 3 ports and two USB 4 Thunderbolt ports. They use the USB-C form factor.
Photographic and audio equipment
The front camera has been upgraded with a 1080p sensor, which combined with the M1 ISP chip means a significant improvement in video quality for consumers. Apple also offers a new iMac with studio-quality microphones and a six-speaker system that supports surround sound for Dolby Atmos-certified content.
With a redesigned chassis that includes the M1 chip and a new thermal system, Apple says the processor is 85% faster than the previous generation iMac, while graphics quality in applications like Photoshop and Affinity Photo has been improved.
Touch ID is available on the Apple iMac.
While the new design seems like a welcome change, some consumers may not be happy with the addition of a power supply unit that was not present in the previous generation iMac. This adapter includes an Ethernet port for wired connection.
Apple has also released color versions of the Magic Keyboard, mouse and trackpad for the iMac.
The iMacs can be purchased starting April 30 and will ship in the second half of May.
