The importance of reading in children
A fun and entertaining way to educate children is through reading stories and books. It is important to inculcate the habit younger for reading, as reading brings many benefits to the development of every person.
Reading helps children develop their imagination and learn about the world around them, improve their vocabulary and linguistic wealth helps them develop greater mental agility, helping them to improve academically, increases their culture, learn to better express their ideas and feelings, increases memory capacity and concentration and allows them to be have greater empathy, better understanding the other person and being more tolerant.
What to do to inculcate the reading habit in children?
The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport offers the following tips to create good readers:
- Educating by example. It is interesting that children often see adults reading and enjoying reading.
- Listening to our children and respond eagerly to any question that comes to mind spontaneously. In this way we will ensure that they learn about written language and the texts that we use regularly.
- The reading should be from the beginning a special activity, emotion and play. It is therefore recommended share those moments with the children, for the pleasure of reading is passed from one another.
